Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) Magnets
Magnetization Direction of NdFeB Magnets
- Material Composition: Made of neodymium, iron, and boron, with chemical formula Nd₂Fe₁₄B. Certain other metals are added in precise proportions and processed through multiple metallurgical steps.
- NdFeB Types: Divided into sintered NdFeB and bonded NdFeB. The so-called “King of Permanent Magnets” is sintered NdFeB because its magnetic performance is far superior to bonded NdFeB.
- Manufacturing Process: Ingredient preparation → smelting → powdering → pressing → sintering (for sintered NdFeB) → machining → magnetization. Machining may include grinding, slicing, wire cutting, drilling, sleeving, electroplating, etc.
- Surface Treatment: Common coatings include zinc plating (e.g., colored zinc, blue-white zinc), nickel plating, Ni-Cu-Ni plating, and paint. Less common methods include epoxy coating, electrophoresis, phosphating, gold plating, silver plating, chrome plating, etc.
- Applications: Motors, VCM, speakers, MRI, magnetic separation equipment, and more.
